UPDATED: Driveway Robbers Caught!!!

UPDATED: February 27, 2014 @ 1:00 pm

Dallas police tied an additional Aggravated Robbery case to the cousin of already arrested driveway robber Santana Andrews.  Dallas police charged Shaketta Rachell Johnson for the offense of Aggravated Robbery stemming from her conduct on February 14, 2014.

On that day, detectives allege that Suspect Johnson robbed Claudia Johnson in a driveway in the the 900 block of Zola Lane.  Suspect Johnson admitted to having been the driver of the suspect vehicle during this offense and to having been with Andrews and Hunt during other robbery offenses.  The case number for this offense report is 37438-B.

Detectives continue to investigate in an effort to link these suspects to additional offenses.

Dallas police reclassified the charges against Charles Hunt and Santana Andrews, the pair arrested and charged in connection with a series of driveway robberies.  Upon the execution of a search warrant of the vehicle used by the pair when they were arrested, detectives discovered a toy gun believed to have been used in at least one of the robberies.  By state law, this would constitute a charge of Robbery and not Aggravated Robbery, therefore changing the charge was appropriate.

Additionally, Dallas police robbery detectives have filed an additional charge of Aggravated Robbery in connection with the series of driveway robberies committed by pair.  In this latest charge a knife was used which dictates that the appropriate charge is Aggravated Robbery.  This was reported on case #39841-B and their bond is $1,282,000 each.

We continue to investigate their involvement in the similar offenses and will update this information should additional charges be filed.

On February 20, 2014, officers assigned to the department’s METRO Task Force were working an approved off-duty neighborhood patrol job in full police uniform and marked police car.  The officers were patrolling on W. Davis Street when a robbery call came out in the 1100 block of Montclair Avenue, which was near their location.   The officers monitored the police radio as it gave out suspects descriptions and that suspects just robbed the victim of his wallet.

Shortly thereafter, the officers observed a vehicle directly in front of them matching the description in the BOLO bulletin of past driveway robberies.  After observing a wallet being thrown from the vehicle, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2800 block of W. Davis Street.   The male and female occupants matched the description of the suspects who had been committing the driveway robberies.

The officers discovered a ski mask, knife, and other evidence located in the vehicle that also linked the suspects to the various robberies.  The suspects were interviewed by Robbery detectives and subsequently taken into custody.  Suspects, Charles Hunt 6/13/62 and Santana Andrews 4/5/86, were charged with the Aggravated Robbery that occurred on Montclair Avenue and is expected to be charged with multiple more robberies.
