Detectives arrested Exzadrian Oneal Jefferson (B/M/ 08-21-86) today and charged him for the 1st degree Murder of Willie Brightmon. This offense occurred on May 25, 2014, when Suspect Jefferson and Complainant Brightmon were attempting to commit a robbery when suspect shot and killed the complainant in an apartment parking lot located in the 9500 block of Brockbank Drive.

On May 25, 2014, at approximately 4:12 am, three individuals were sitting in the parking lot drinking when they were approached by Suspect Jefferson and Complainant Brightmon. Suspect Brightmon pointed a handgun at the witnesses and attempted to pull the trigger but the weapon malfunction. The witnesses engaged Suspect Jefferson and complainant Brightmon in a physical confrontation in an attempt to gain control of the firearm. Sometime during the altercation a single gunshot was fired and Complainant Brightmon was struck in the chest. The complainant was transported to Parkland Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Later that day, Suspect Jefferson contacted detectives subsequently turned himself in to police. Suspect Jefferson admitted to his participation in the robbery and admitted to pulling the trigger of the firearm.
