Anonymous Tip leads to Auto Theft Arrest

CaptureOn June 24th, 2014 the Dallas Police Department received an anonymous phone call about suspects stripping a stolen car in the 3300 block of Parvia Avenue.

The Auto Theft Salvage Squad went to the address and observed four male suspects pulling a 2006 Ford F250 pick up with another vehicle.  The suspects noticed that they were being watched by police and began to run.  However, they did not get far and was subsequently detained.  It was discovered that the suspects had a police scanner and were actively listening to the police channel where the offense was occuring.

The owner of the vehicle was contacted and she said her vehicle was being repaired at a shop on Davis Street when she was notified that it had been stolen.  Fortunately, the vehicle was intact except for the radio.  

All four suspects were transported to Jack Evans Police Headquarters and interviewed by detectives.  Jimmy Luna, a L/M 11/12/1989 and Samuel Martinez Jr. L/M 3/4/79, gave voluntarily statements admitting to the offense.  They were arrested and charged with Theft State Jail Felony.  The third suspect, Efrain Deleon, L/M 7/23/1989, was not charged with the offense but was arrested for warrants out of Irving PD.  The fourth individaul detained was released because he could not be linked to the offense. 

This arrest would not have been possible without the help of a watchful citizen who was concered about suspicious activity in their community.
