On August 21, 2014 at about 6:40PM , the victim a B/F 33, was driving North bound in the 4800 block of Veterans Drive. The victim came to a stop at veterans Drive and 52nd Street.
The suspect, who has been identified as Ladarius Campbell B/M 11-21-93, and another B/M drove up alongside the vehicle that the victim was driving, while the vehicles were stopped there was a verbal altercation between Mr. Campbell and the victim.
Mr. Campbell exited his vehicle, produced a handgun, and shot the victim in the face.
At the same time, an off-duty officer, in plain clothes and driving his personal vehicle with his family, observed Suspect Campbell shoot the victim.
The Officer, who is being identified as Ruben Martinez #10443, stepped out of his vehicle and opened fire on the suspect to stop the suspect from continuing his violent assault on the victim.
Suspect Campbell was struck by the officer’s gunfire.
The victim as well as the suspect were transported to area hospitals by Dallas Fire Rescue. Both are expected to survive their injuries.
Ladarius Campbell is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon a F/1, and may face additional charges. The investigation is ongoing.
