On Saturday, March 22, 2014, the Dallas Police Department partnered up with the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity to have the Police Chief’s Build Day. During that day, the officers volunteered and helped install the floor siding for the first floor, windows and they also prepared the place for paint.
Today, at 9:30am, the house was presented to the new owners, the Htoo-Sha Family. Some of the officers who volunteered in March were able to attend the dedication ceremony. Southeast Patrol Chief Coleman presented Mrs. Sha with the keys to the home.
The Htoo-Sha family was presented with several symbolic gifts such as Bread and Wine. They were also presented with a Bible. Another gift that was given to them was a tool box, but they were reassured that will only need that to hang pictures on the wall.
We wish the Htoo-Sha Family the best and hope they are able to enjoy their new home for years to come. After all, it was built with love and dedication by many, including the Dallas Police Department.
