When called, Dallas Police Officers always answer, whether on dry land or in the depths of Dallas lakes. The Dallas Underwater Recovery Team is comprised of 22 Dallas Police Officers, who not only dive when called, but who have full-time assignments elsewhere within the police department.
Dallas Police Officers began diving in the mid 1990’s and in 2008; the team became an official unit. The officers interested in being on the team must already be certified rescue divers and are then trained to be public safety divers. These highly skilled officers complete quarterly training to maintain their certifications. They are under the command of Captain Jack Bragg who is also a skillful diver.
