Press Conference Regarding Homicide on Cedar Springs Road

UPDATE: Please see the below video. In the top part of the video you can see what appears to be an altercation between Joseph Chase and unknown suspects. 4000 Cedar Springs Road 

On September 25, 2014, at approximately 2:30am, officers were flagged down regarding Complainant Joseph Chase, W/M/54, who was unresponsive at 4000 Cedar Springs Road, with possible head trauma. Officers began CPR and Dallas Fire Rescue was called to the location. Mr. Chase was transported to Parkland Hospital via DFR where he was pronounced deceased. No next of kin has been located.

On September 29, 2014, the Medical Examiner notified DPD that there was blunt force trauma to the neck area of Mr. Chase. The Medical Examiner ruled the incident a homicide, with the described injuries as contributing factors in the cause of the complainant’s death. Surveillance video was obtained by detectives that showed two unknown individuals having a confrontation with Mr. Chase. In the video, one of the unknown individuals was observed striking Mr. Chase, causing him to collapse to the ground. Witnesses observed Mr. Chase on the ground and flagged down officers. At this time, no eyewitnesses to the assault/homicide have come forward. This offense is documented on Incident Report #230525-2014.
