Shooting – 3128 Forest Lane

UPDATE: The deceased Latin male in the below incident has been identified as Mike Angel Carmillio DOB:9-17-78. Next of kin notification has been made.

On October 28, 2014, at about 7:20 pm, patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the Aldi Grocery Store located at 3128 Forest Lane.  A husband and wife were walking out of the store when a Latin male suddenly approached the woman and grabbed a gold necklace off her neck.  The individual then knocked the woman to the ground in an attempt to rob her.  The woman’s husband was carrying a concealed handgun and fired multiple shots at the Latin male, striking him as he was attempting to get away in his nearby vehicle.  The Latin male entered his vehicle and attempted to flee before succumbing to his injuries.  The vehicle then collided with a parked motor vehicle.

The husband possesses a valid concealed handgun license and was in fear for his and his wife’s lives at the time of the robbery/shooting.  Homicide detectives responded to the location and have interviewed the husband, his wife and witnesses and all corroborate that this shooting was in self-defense.  The husband, Ronnie Lummus 71, was released on his own recognizance and a Grand Jury Referral will be made on case #259806-2014.  The Latin male, who was 36 years old, has tentatively been identified, but his name will not be released because Next of Kin has not been notified.
