Seeking Suspect in Robbery Self-Defense Shooting

On November 5, 2014, at approximately 6:16 pm officers responded to a shooting call where a male was shot at the Valero gas station located at Webb Chapel Extension and Larga Drive.  The male victim, identified as Saeid Ardestani MI  2-24-1958, was transported to Parkland Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  Video surveillance showed that Mr. Ardestani had been transported to the gas station by an unknown male and female who called 911 and left the location.

Approximately 26 minutes later a shooting call came out at 9729 Dale Crest, the Spanish Pueblo Apartments.  The complainant, Thomas Lopez L/M/ 74, stated to that two Latin male suspects entered his apartment and robbed him of money.

Mr. Lopez was armed with a pistol and inside his apartment and fearing for his life shot one of the suspects.  Both suspects then fled the location. Due to the close proximity of both offense locations and the suspect description given by Mr. Lopez, it was believed that the two offenses might be related.  Homicide detectives responded to both scenes.

Mr. Lopez cooperated with Homicide detectives and agreed to be interviewed at the Dallas Police Headquarters. Mr. Lopez stated that two unknown Latin male suspects came to his door asking for change.  As he was speaking to them at the front door one of the suspects entered and demanded money.  This suspect had his hand in his pocket and threatened to shoot Mr. Lopez if he didn’t comply. Mr. Lopez drew his gun and shot at the suspect striking him. Both of the suspects ran from the apartment. Next of kin has been made.

This is still an ongoing investigation and will be referred to the Grand Jury. Detectives are still trying to identify the second robbery suspect and would also like to identify the women in the video. (266352-2014). Please see attachment below for the video.
