Arrest Made in Northwest Division Crime Spree

Update on 12/12/2014

In late November, the Robbery Unit began investigating a string of aggravated robbery offenses that were occurring in the Northwest Patrol Division. These individual robberies all shared the same suspect descriptions, suspect vehicle, and modus operandi. A press conference was held requesting the public’s help in identifying the suspects. On December 1, 2014, one of the suspects on these offenses was arrested during the commission of another aggravated robbery at a gas station, and the suspect vehicle used was recovered. That suspect is identified as Mario Patron, L/M/36. Patron was interviewed by robbery detectives and admitted to his involvement in all of the offenses and that the suspect vehicle used belonged to him.

Further investigation led detectives to an apartment belonging to the second suspect involved in this series of robberies. METRO deployment officers were able to identify the second suspect as Xyan Gonzalez, L/M/21, and robbery detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest. On December 9th, 2014, with the help of North Central Patrol deployment and CRT officers, the METRO Unit officers apprehended Xyan Gonzalez, and transported him to police headquarters to be interviewed by robbery detectives. Detectives were then able to obtain a confession from Mr. Gonzalez.

A total of 10 Aggravated Robbery offenses were cleared with the arrests of these two suspects: 281983-2014, 282500-2014, 282755-2014, 283133-2014, 283151-2014, 283499-2014, 283948-2014, 284852-2014, 285632-2014, 286136-2014.
