On January 4, 2015, at approximately 3:30pm, officers responded to an officer assist call at the 13700 block of Dallas Parkway. A Dallas Police officer was working an off duty security job at the location, when he was asked to escort the suspect Thomas Davidson, B/m 1-16-1988, out of the store. The officer grabbed Davidson by the arm and asked him to leave several times. Davidson refused to comply. The officer told Davidson that he was no longer welcomed at the location. It was at this time that Davidson struck the officer approximately three times.
The suspect grabbed the officer’s uniform and pulled him down to the ground. The suspect was then able to mount on top of the officer and continued striking him.
Two witnesses yelled at the suspect to stop several times, but he continued to strike the officer. The witnesses then attempted to pull him off of the officer. The officer was able to deploy his Taser, but was unsuccessful.
The officer was able to use the device as a stun gun and was able to stun the suspect several times. The officer was able to gain control of Davidson until cover officers arrived to the scene. Both the officer and the suspect were transported to local hospitals.
Thomas Davidson has been charged with Aggravated Assault To A Public Servant and Criminal Trespass. His bail has been set at $125,000.
The Dallas Police officer involved in this incident has been on the force for approximately five years and is currently assigned to the Metro Task Force.
