“Jugging”- Please be Aware

The Northwest Division of the Dallas Police Department is currently experiencing numerous Burglary of Motor Vehicle offenses where the victim had just visited their bank for a cash withdraw.  Two of  the six victims experienced a flat tire when leaving the bank parking area that was caused by the suspect(s).  While the victim is stopped and changing the flat tire, the suspect(s) would drive up to the side of the vehicle, open the door and take bags, envelopes or purses that contains the cash.  On the other occasions, the suspect(s) would gain acces to the vehicles  either by opening the ” UNLOCKED” door or breaking the window.  These type of crime is commonly refered to as ” Jugging”.

Jugging is an offense that occurs when a would be thief follow an unsuspected victim and wait for them to exit the vehicle and go into a building before breaking into the vehicle and taking the property.

Suspect and vehicle descriptions are varied.  One of the offenses was captured on video, but the video was not clear enough to reveal a vehicle tag or distinct suspect description.

Citizens are asked to be on the lookout for these type offenses and report vehicle and suspect descriptions where possible.  Money and valuables should not be left in the vehicle and always remember to lock your doors.  Citizens are asked to call 911 if they see any suspicious activity related to this or any type of offenses.
