Officer of the Month: Sgt. Gerald Runnels

10993493_10153038524937412_8453536890358207727_nSergeant Gerald Runnels, #5309, has been selected as the Dallas Police Officer of the Month, a prestigious award given by the Dallas Community Police Awards Committee. Nominated by Lieutenant Daniel Carolla, Sgt. Runnels has been praised for the positive impact he’s made on the West Dallas community ever since he took over as the supervisor of the Dallas Police-Lakewest Neighborhood Assistance Center (NAC) in March of 2014. Through his proactive and community-centered initiatives, Sgt. Runnels has created a knowledgable unit of officers, a NAC presence on social media, a stronger relationship with the West Dallas community and non-profit advocacy groups, and an environment that allows elderly residents to safely leave their homes. The results of his hard work is evident in the numerous compliments from residents that 2014 was the best and safest summer they’ve experienced in years.
