As the Dallas Police Department continues to work to enhance public safety and transparency, a story of a water rescue as seen through an officer’s new body camera comes to light. Officers of the Southeast Crime Response Team (CRT) Unit were in the right place at the right time. On Friday night, February 6, 2015, a driver lost control of his vehicle and fell over 50 feet into a creek near 5800 Military Parkway.
The officers rushed down the embankment through thorn bushes and found the car was upside down with water pouring in. The driver of the vehicle was still inside. The officers quickly worked together to pull the driver out safely.
Thanks to the quick response and teamwork of the officers involved, no one was injured.
