It all started when Chad Kleis asked his Facebook friends to send birthday cards to make his son’s ninth birthday special. Hunter is autistic, non-verbal, and does not have many friends to have a birthday party so his dad tries to make every birthday memorable.
The Facebook post went viral and Hunter received thousands of cards and packages from around the world. Due to the overwhelming responses and donations, Hunter’s Birthday Bash was created to raise awareness for Autism. Mr. Kleis saw this as an opportunity to invite other autistic children to join Hunter to celebrate and not feel different.
DPD was honored to be part of Hunter’s Birthday Bash on March 21, 2015. The Hero’s, Cops, and Kids made it a memorable event for the children. KISS FM, Frisco Firefighters, The Au-some Crawler, and others were also there to show support for Autism Awareness.
