Arrest Made In Hotel ATM Theft

Early this morning, around 2:46 a.m., a white van drove up to the front entryway of the Grand Hotel located at 7815 LBJ Service Road.  Two males exited the van and entered the front lobby of the hotel with masks and gloves concealing their identities. The two mask individuals went straight to the ATM located just inside the front doors of the hotel.  The suspects then picked up the ATM with their hands and began carrying it out the front doors of the hotel.  A security guard working at the hotel entered the lobby and confronted the two mask men. The suspects refused to drop the ATM so the security guard grabbed one of the suspects and attempted to detain him.  A struggle then ensued between the security guard and one of the suspects.  The second suspect then fled the location in the white van leaving the ATM on the ground in the hotel porte cochere. The security guard, with the help of a citizen who was in the lobby at the time of the offense, were able to hold the suspect in place until police arrived.  Dallas Police North Central Officers arrested Jerry Strange, B/M/30, for Theft of an ATM.

The white van stolen out of Dallas was abandoned a few blocks away.  The second suspect was not captured but detectives with the Major Crimes Task force are working on his identity.

Jerry Strange has been charged with Theft of an ATM (2nd degree Felony).
