Press Conference Regarding Homicide at 2843 W. Brooklyn Avenue

It appears the victim, Joe Martinez, died from a gunshot wound. There is no suspect information or a motive at this time.

Joe Martinez was a student at Raul Quintanilla Senior Middle School and the Dallas Police Department is asking Joe’s friends to come forward with any information that may assist in this case. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to please contact Detective Raley at (214) 671-3684.

On June 28, 2015, at about 7:30 am, Homicide Detectives responded to a deceased person call at 2843 W. Brooklyn Avenue.  A citizen jogging in the area called 9-1-1 to report finding the victim, an Unknown L/M, deceased by homicidal means in the alley.  The male is approximately 15-16 years old 5’8” and weighing 140 pounds, wearing silver athletic shorts with a black strip down the sides, a black T- shirt with Bob Marley on the front and black and white Nike shoes.  Detectives used all departmental resources, coordinated with Dallas Independent School District and canvassed the area for leads but have been unable to identify the victim.

The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance identifying this victim.  Anyone with any information regarding this crime or the identity of the victim is encouraged to call 911 or the Dallas Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Division at (214) 671- 3661.  There is no suspect information at this time.  Next of Kin notification has not been made.  This investigation is ongoing.
