Taking Criminals Off The Street!

thCA35DASSThe City of Dallas annexed Oak Cliff in 1903. Oak Cliff has maintained its distinction as one of the City of Dallas’ older neighborhoods to include the Bishop Arts District. This area is protected and served by officers of the Southwest Patrol Division.  An example of their continued dedication came on July 3, 2015, when they responded to a call for police where multiple robbery suspects were  apprehended.

At about 1:41 p.m., Southwest officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of McAdams Avenue regarding a home invasion style robbery. During the offense, there were five people inside the residence. One of the victims, a 24-year-old Latin female, stated she was sitting at the kitchen table when she heard a loud noise. As she stood up to investigate, the back door shattered and four Latin males entered and held the female victims at gunpoint while taking property from the house. Once the suspects gathered property, they fled the location down the alley in what was described as a tan or silver 4-door Nissan.  The responding officers arrived and began their investigation by gathering descriptions of the suspects and the vehicle they were driving.

The suspect information was broadcasted over the police radio and Air One (Dallas police helicopter) was notified.  Air One spotted a vehicle that matched the description broadcasted, and followed the vehicle as it pulled into a convenience store located in the 2400 block of Clarendon Road.  The suspects exited the vehicle and entered the store. As officers were arriving, four suspects exited the store and were back inside the vehicle.  The responding officers turn on their emergency equipment to conduct a high risk traffic stop.  During the traffic stop, two of the suspects fled on foot while the other three stayed with the vehicle. Three suspects were subsequently taken into custody without incident.  Air One continued to assist officers, leading them to a fourth suspect who was also taken into custody.  The fifth suspect is still at large.

The property taken from the residence was recovered inside the suspect vehicle along with a handgun. Suspects Christopher Galvan L/M/09-05-92, Marco Lopez L/M/08-28-96, Steve Salazar L/M/04-10-81, and Alejandro Hernandez L/M/04-25-97 were arrested for Aggravated Robbery and placed in Lew Sterett Jail.
