July’s Officer of the Month: Det. McAnally

Officer of the month

Congratulations to Detective Travis McAnally, #9007, for being selected by the Dallas Community Police Awards Committee as the “Officer of the Month” for July 2015.  Among the many outstanding men and women of the Dallas Police Department, his work has been identified as reflecting highly on both him and his profession.

Detective McAnally joined the Southwest Investigations Unit in January 2013. During his tenure as a property crimes detective, he has been assigned 1,266 cases to investigate and has filed 188 criminal cases, including 111 for felony charges. This includes 83 burglary cases, 44 thefts and 5 cruelties to animal cases.

On March 28, 2013, just three months after joining the Investigative Unit, he was assigned an Animal Cruelty case where an unknown suspect had placed a dog that was locked in a portable pet kennel into an apartment complex trash compactor.   Detective McAnally secured video from the apartment security system and was able to identify a possible suspect. A probable cause arrest warrant was obtained and the suspect was taken to the Southwest Investigative Unit where Detective McAnally interviewed her. During the interview, the suspect admitted to committing the offense, documented on case number 0074127A.

Dallas Community Police Awards Committee honored and recognized him for his outstanding contributions in serving the citizens of Dallas. The committee invited him and his family to a breakfast on Thursday, July 30th, held at the Dallas Police Association.
