Investigation of Death at the City Detention Center

On August 19, 2015, at 10:40 a.m., police officers responded to a request for police from Dallas Fire & Rescue to the 3000 block of Calvary Avenue. Dallas Fire & Rescue stated the individual, a W/M/39, was intoxicated. A subject check revealed he had an alias warrant out of the City of Dallas. The officers arrested the individual for the warrant and transported him to the City Detention Center. The City Detention Center provides for the housing of persons arrested for public intoxication and class C misdemeanor warrants. At approximately 1:00 a.m., on August 20, 2015, the individual was found unresponsive in his cell by City Detention Center personnel. Dallas Fire & Rescue was called to the location and pronounced the subject deceased. The Special Investigations Unit of the Dallas Police Department responded to the scene and is currently conducting an investigation.

The individual’s name is not being released at this time as next of kin has not been made.
