On today, August 28, 2015, the Dallas Community Police Awards Committee held a luncheon to honor Officer Naomi Arroyo, #8629 as the August Employee of the Month; the luncheon was held at the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center.
Officer Naomi Arroyo hired on with the Dallas Police Department in 2005 and she is currently assigned to the Community Engagement Division, where she works as a teacher in the BITS program (Blue in the School). BITS is a program that allows uniformed Dallas police officers to teach a curriculum to fourth graders, giving the students a positive interaction with officers, while simultaneously viewing officers as a source of academic information. Through the BITS program, Officer Naomi Arroyo has committed her skills and knowledge by returning to the same neighborhoods in which she grew up and currently resides.
She is commended for her hard work, and she is a prime example of what it means to give back to her community. For more information about Officer Arroyo and her award, please see the nomination letter below.
