Recent Katy Trail Robberies

Updated Post: November 12, 2015

Between October 29th  and November 1st two male suspects committed five  robberies at the southern end of the Katy Trail.  During these offenses both suspects pointed guns at the victims and stole their property.

Using video and credit card transaction data and witness information, Detective Loeb with the Dallas Police Robbery Unit was able to determine that the suspects lived in an apartment building in the Little Mexico Village, located at 3027 Harry Hines Blvd and adjacent to the Katy Trail.

One occupant of that apartment, Daray Robinson, born January 22, 1994, was arrested in Fannin County on November 6th on unrelated charges. Our detective traveled to Fannin County and interviewed Mr. Robinson.  Confronted with compelling evidence, Mr. Robinson admitted to his involvement in one of the robberies.

Another victim was shown a photo line-up. That victim identified Jamaciay Smith, born June 1, 1998, who lives in the same apartment as arrestee Robinson, as having been one of the people who committed the robbery offense.

Mr. Smith was arrested by Dallas police officers at 10:15 a.m. this morning in the parking lot at 4500 Hatcher St.

Daray Robinson B/M 01/22/1994 remains in the Fannin County Jail.

Jamaciay Smith B/M 06/01/1998 is in Dallas Police Custody.

The Dallas Police Department would like to thank the media who broadcast the information and especially to witnesses who came forward with information that led to the arrests of these to criminals.
