On January 4, 2016, at approximately 1:40 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call in the 200 block of Stoneport Drive. Officer Juan Hernandez, #8447, arrived at the scene and observed several people fighting in the street. He was able to detain one of the participants, who is a juvenile, and handcuff him on the street. The arrestee, Alexis Smith B/F/8/25/96, who was also involved in the fight, got into her vehicle and intentionally ran over Officer Hernandez and the juvenile. The suspect fled but was arrested a short time later. The arrestee and a number of witnesses were transported to police headquarters where they were interviewed regarding the offense. The arrestee was transported to Lew Sterrett jail and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant and one count of Aggravated Assault.
The officer and juvenile were both released from the hospital with minor injuries.

On January 4, 2016 at about 1:40pm, patrol officers responded to a disturbance call regarding individuals fighting around 200 Stoneport Drive. The first officer to arrive on scene observed one juvenile that appeared to have been involved in the fight. The officer attempted to detain the juvenile in the roadway. Other suspects that were involved in the disturbance got into a nearby vehicle and drove towards the officer and juvenile. The vehicle struck both the officer and the juvenile. The officer was transported to Baylor Hospital in stable condition. The juvenile that was being detained by the officer was taken to Parkland Hospital also in stable condition. Officers located a vehicle possibly related to the offense and are working to identify suspects. We will release additional details as it becomes appropriate to do so.
