2015 Crime Summary

The annual crime report for the Dallas Police Department showed that 2015 marked an unprecedented 12th consecutive year of crime reduction in the city. The city had the 4th lowest murder rate on record and the department also saw a 45% reduction in police involved shootings and a 67% reduction in excessive force complaints. The City of Dallas had the most significant decline in crime among major Texas cities and cities across the nation.

2015 Targeted Area Action Grid (TAAG) Update

Crime analysis found a system of identifying high crime areas throughout the city. These areas are called Targeted Area Action Grids (TAAG). Identifying the TAAG areas helps DPD with strategic decision-making and tactical action by showing where crime is likely to occur in the future. The department has strategically placed surveillance cameras in the TAAG areas and the department has reached out to the community by implementing several Youth programs.
