On January 12, 2016 at about 4:30 am, a Latin male victim was walking in the parking lot of the Sedona Ranch Apartments in the 2700 block of Northaven Road when he observed a Latin male suspect exit a red 4-door sedan, possibly a Pontiac, and approach him on foot. The suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money. The victim complied and surrendered his cash. The suspect returned to the suspect vehicle and the victim ran off. Moments later the victim heard gunshots and observed the red 4-door sedan exiting the complex. The victim returned to the parking lot and located a second Latin male victim who had been shot.
The second victim had been sitting in his car warming the engine when the red 4-door sedan pulled up behind him. The suspect exited the suspect vehicle and opened the second victim’s car door. The suspect pointed a handgun at the second victim and demanded money. The second victim informed the suspect that he did not have any money at which time the suspect shot the second victim, walked to his vehicle, and drove off.
The first victim was not injured. The second victim is in stable condition at Parkland Hospital and is expected to recover.
The suspect communicated with both victims in Spanish and he is described as a Latin male 35-45 years of age, 5’ 7” tall, weighing 150 pounds, bearded, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, and armed with a handgun. The suspect vehicle is described as a red Pontiac 4-door Sedan. No license plate was observed.
