On February 2, 2016, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Dallas Police Officers responded to a shooting call at 218 West Elmore Avenue. When the officers arrived, they found the victim Jamal Berry B/M 30 deceased from a gunshot wound in the street. The officers also located witnesses who identified arrestee Dearius Keavaughn Session B/M 21 as the person who had shot Mr. Berry. Arrestee Sessions was taken into custody and transported to Dallas police headquarters. During an interview, arrestee Session admitted to having shot Mr. Berry as the two argued over a cell phone.
Additionally, during the murder investigation Detectives found property linking arrestee Session to an aggravated robbery that occurred on January 4, 2016 at 5326 S. Hampton Rd. on service number 002974-2016. During that offense, arrestee Session shot the victim and took his property. During his interview, arrestee Session also admitted to having committed this offense. Arrestee Session is being held at Lew Sterrett on a $100,000 bond.
