On February 16, 2016 at about 6:11 a.m., officers in the Northwest Patrol Division responded to a robbery call in the 9600 block of Timberline Drive. The victim told officers that he was walking to his apartment when he was approached by two unknown Latin male suspects. One suspect pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his property while the second suspect grabbed the victim and held him. The first suspect took the victim’s property then both suspects fled the location on foot. The victim was able to give the responding officers a very detailed description of one of the suspects, which was distributed to all of the officers in the area.
At about 1:53 p.m. the same day, a Dallas Police supervisor was driving in the area of 3200 Sumter Boulevard and observed an individual driving an SUV that matched the suspect description given over the radio. The officer stopped the vehicle and arrested the suspect for several traffic violations and outstanding warrants. The suspect, who was identified as Julian Vasquez L/M 11/22/1985, admitted his involvement in the robbery to detectives. He was transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with Aggravated Robbery and has a $150,000 bond.
