On Saturday, March 12, 2016, Dallas PAL held their 2nd Annual Chess Tournament at Dallas Police Headquarters, and more than 65 kids from all over Dallas participated in the competition. The youth were divided into three age categories: 6 to 11 year olds, 12 to 14 year olds, and 15 to 17 year olds. There were three winners per category and the top winner of each category took home a crystal glass trophy set, a regular standing trophy, and a $25.00 gift card. Dallas Police Senior Corporal James Petty coordinates the chess program and is very proud of all the boys and girls who participate and the progress they’ve made. “These boys and girls are very knowledgeable in this game and they are humble in their sportsmanship,” stated Petty. Congratulations to the all the winners in the chess tournament; see you next year!
