Alert Citizen Helps Locate Murder Suspect

On March 23, 2016, the Dallas Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for James Hightower, a 36-year-old black male, for the murder of Joshua Harewood, a 27-year-old white male.  Hightower was recognized by an observant citizen at a facility at the Dallas/Desoto border and called police. Desoto police and Dallas police responded. Dallas police arrested Hightower and then transported him to Dallas police headquarters. He is currently in the Dallas County jail on a $200, 000 bond.

The Dallas Police Department would like to thank the citizen and the Desoto Police Department for their assistance in getting this murder suspect in custody without incident.

On March 23, 2016, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Dallas police officers responded to a shooting call at 2720 Lewiston Avenue. When patrol officers arrived, they observed a witness performing CPR on the victim, Joshua Harewood, a 27-year-old white male who had been shot.  Dallas Fire Rescue pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Dallas police Homicide detectives interviewed several witnesses, and determined that James Hightower, a 36-year-old black male was responsible for the murder of Mr. Harewood. As a result, detectives have obtained a warrant for Hightower’s arrest for the charge of Murder.
