The subject involved and arrested in the officer-involved shooting incident on Willoughby Blvd., has been identified as Bryan Gilstrap, a 36 year old Black male. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

On Saturday, March 26, 2016, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Dallas police officers responded to a disturbance call in the 8200 block of Willoughby Boulevard. The subject, a black male 36yrs old, who was involved in the disturbance was standing outside in the common area of the apartment complex with a shotgun. According to civilian witnesses, when the first officer arrived, a witness alerted him to the subject’s location and told the officer that the subject was armed. Upon seeing the officer, the subject turned toward the officer and pointed the shotgun at him. The officer then fired at the subject but did not strike him. The subject was then taken into custody and will be charged with Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant. There were no injuries and the investigation is on-going. The involved officer is currently on administrative leave per policy. We will release additional details as they become available and appropriate to do so.
