This morning just before 10:00 a.m., an 83-year-old female victim was walking in the 5100 block of Ross Avenue when a juvenile Hispanic male suspect grabbed her by the hair, punched her multiple times and knocked her to the ground. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s purse from her and fled on foot.
Moments later Dallas Police Detective Andrew Dilbeck, #8416, of the Sex Offender Apprehension Unit (SOAP) happened to drive up on the victim lying in the roadway and stopped to assist her. A citizen informed Detective Dilbeck that the victim had just been robbed and provided the suspect’s direction of travel. Detective Dilbeck left the victim in the care of the citizen and began searching for the suspect. He traveled less than a block when he discovered that several citizens, who had also observed the offense, captured the suspect and held him for police. Detective Dilbeck placed the suspect under arrest for Aggravated Robbery and recovered the stolen purse. The victim received treatment from Dallas Fire and Rescue. The victim was not seriously injured.
