DNA Links Sex Offender to Aggravated Sexual Assault

On December 12, 2015, in the early morning hours, a female victim was walking in the 1600 block of South Good Latimer Expressway when an unknown black male approached her.  The suspect knocked her to the ground, choked her, and then sexually assaulted her.  A passerby later found the victim unconscious and called for help.  The victim was transported to a hospital for her injuries and a forensic exam was completed.  Due to memory loss sustained as a result of her injuries, the victim was not able to provide detailed information about her attacker.  This offense was reported on case number 288517-2015.

On April 28, 2016, Dallas Police detectives were notified that the DNA profile obtained from the sexual assault kit matched the DNA profile of Robert Earl Turner, B/M/49, a registered sex offender.  Detectives obtained a warrant for Turner’s arrest and the Sex Offender Apprehension Unit took him into custody.  Turner is currently in the Dallas County Jail with a bond set at $150,000.
