TRAFFIC ADVISORY – STATE FAIR OF TEXAS OPENING DAY PARADE

Friday, September 30, 2016 (Noon-1 p.m.) The Opening Day Parade is a State Fair of Texas tradition that celebrates the first day of the annual event with a parade through Downtown Dallas. The parade will start at Noon from the corner of Houston St. and Main St. and end at Main St.t and Good-Latimer Expressway in Deep Ellum.

The City of Dallas has approved the following road closures for parade: 

  • PARADE STAGING AREA (CLOSURES WILL START AT 9 A.M.): The parade will stage on Houston St. from Main St. to Young St.; Record St. from Jackson St. to Young St.; Market St. from Commerce St. to Young St.; Jackson St. from Houston St. to Lamar St.; Wood St. from Houston St. to Lamar St.; and Hotel St. from North Dr. to Memorial Dr. 
  • PARADE ROUTE (PARADE WILL START AT NOON): The parade will start at Houston St. and Main St. and proceed east on Main St. to Good Latimer Expressway where the parade will finish and disperse.
  • Closures will start as early as 9 a.m. and all roadways will be open by 1 p.m.

A comprehensive traffic plan has been developed by the Dallas Police Department in conjunction with the walk organizers in an effort to minimize traffic interruptions.  Dallas Police Department will work traffic through the route as necessary and roads will reopen as the race passes each intersection.
