UPDATE TO PERSON OF INTEREST BULLETIN ON CASE #225218-2016
DNA LINKS SUSPECT TO AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT
After the person of interest bulletin was released, detectives received tips from the public and DART Police regarding the identity of one of the persons of interest. The suspect is a 15-year-old male. A search warrant for the suspect’s DNA was obtained and executed. The DNA sample was then submitted to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences.
On October 12, 2016, Dallas Police detectives were notified that the male DNA profile obtained from the sexual assault kit matched the DNA profile of the juvenile suspect. Detectives have filed the charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault against the suspect, and he is in custody at the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center.
This case remains an open and active investigation. The identity of the second suspect is unknown at this time. On September 18, 2016, at approximately 2:58 a.m., a female was walking in the 3300 block of Elm Street in Deep Ellum. She was approached by two unidentified Black males. One of those males produced a weapon and the female was sexually assaulted.
The unidentified Black males were described as follows:
- Tall Black male approximately 18-20 years old, skinny build, short curly hair.
- Short Black male approximately 18-20 years old, with curly hair.

Dallas Police are looking to identify the two persons of interest that are pictured above that were seen in the area on the morning of the sexual assault. Dallas Police are asking that if anyone knows the identity of the individuals shown in the pictures to please contact Crime Stoppers 214-373-TIPS (8477), or contact Detective Chris Anderson at (214) 671-3616.
