Officer Involved Shooting at 300 Brownlee Avenue

The officer involved in the shooting incident on Brownlee Avenue is Senior Corporal Robert McMillin Jr. badge #7246.  He is a W/M and a 21 year veteran of the Department assigned to the South Central Investigative Unit.

On October 14, 2016, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Dallas police officers were conducting a property crime investigation in the 300 block of East Brownlee Avenue. During the course of the investigation, an officer observed a shooting in progress. The officer confronted the shooting suspect, George Zapata  L/M/24, and identified himself as a police officer and was immediately engaged by gunfire. The officer, in plain clothes driving an unmarked police vehicle, returned fire striking the suspect halting the shooter. Three males where transported to a local hospital where the suspect and one of his victims were pronounced deceased. The second victim shot by the suspect is currently in stable condition at a local hospital.

The officer suffered non-life threatening injuries and was also transported to a local hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue for treatment. He has since been released and is currently recuperating at home. This incident is reported under case number 247294-2016

On October 14, 2016, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Dallas police officers where conducting a property crime investigation in the 300 block of East Brownlee Avenue. The officer returned fire striking the suspect halting the shooter. Three males where transport by Dallas Fire and Rescue to a local hospital in unknown conditions. The officer suffered non-life threatening injuries and was also transported to a local hospital by Dallas Fire and Rescue. This is an ongoing and active investigation. More details will be released at the available and appropriate time.
