On August 16, 2016, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Dallas police officers responded to a shooting call at 3140 Mockingbird Lane. Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim, Amy Miles, a Black female, shot in the head. The course of the investigation led detectives to interview Neil Joseph Becnel, a White male, 48-years-old, who had been arrested in another state on an unrelated charge. Becnel was interviewed by detectives and confessed to shooting the victim. Becnel remains in the Jefferson Parish jail where he has also been charged with the murder of Amy Miles. His bond is set at $150,000.00. Below is a link to the probable cause affidavit.
