CANCELLED – CHILDREN’S HEALTH HOLIDAY PARADE-TRAFFIC ADVISORY

UPDATE:  The Children’s Health Holiday Parade has been cancelled due to weather concerns.

Saturday, December 3, 2016 (7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) The Children’s Medical Center will host The 29th Annual Children’s Health Holiday Parade. The event begins on Friday, December with a parade preview party that will be held at the Adolphus Hotel (indoors). Breakfast with Santa will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. also at the Adolphus Hotel (indoors). Pre-parade activities will begin at 8:00 a.m. in Main Street Garden and Belo Garden. Rehearsals, sound checks, and some pre-parade performances will be held at The Adolphus on Commerce between Field and Akard. These activities will begin at 6:00 a.m. on December 3, 2016. The parade will step off from Commerce and Houston at 10:00 a.m. It will travel east on Commerce to Harwood, make a right on Harwood and proceed to Young Street where it will make another right. The parade will continue on Young to Griffin where it will finish and disperse. Major street closures will begin at 7:00 a.m. (waiting for details from Cassie). Staging areas for the parade include the following streets: Houston Street from I-35 Service Road to Main, Hotel Street from Houston Reunion Blvd. E., Reunion Blvd. E from Hotel to Houston, Jackson from Houston to Griffin, Wood from Houston to Griffin, Record from Young to Jackson, Market from Young to Commerce, Austin from Wood to Commerce, Lamar from Young to Commerce, Griffin from Young to Commerce, Field from Jackson to Commerce, Akard from Commerce to Main, and St. Paul from Commerce to Main. Ten tents (one 20’x20’ and nine 10’x10’) and two stages will be erected for the event. One stage will be located in Belo Garden, and one will bel located in Main Street Garden. Food, beverages, and merchandise will be sold. The projected attendance is 500,000.

LANE CLOSURES INCLUDE:
• Staging area (gray area) will be closed at 6:00 a.m.
• Parade route (blue area) will be closed at 7:00 a.m.
• N &S major streets closed at 9:00 a.m.
Please note that multiple streets will have limited access after 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
