On January 4, 2017, at approximately 5:00 p.m., suspect Donald Moon, a Black male, 55-years-old was arrested for the murder of Choyce Moon and the aggravated assault of Mae Francis Moon. With the help of the public and the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team, the suspect was located near downtown Dallas and transported to the Dallas Police Homicide Unit to be interviewed. The suspect was read his Miranda warning and waived his right to remain silent by speaking with detectives where he confessed to committing these crimes. Donald Moon has been placed in jail for murder and aggravated assault with a combined bail amount of $600,000.00.

On January 1, 2017, at approximately 11:29 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a call for service regarding a welfare check at 1614 E. Redbird Lane. Upon their arrival, they discovered victim Choyce Moon, a Black male 83-years-old, deceased from homicidal violence and victim Mae Moon, a Black female 80 years old, with injuries to her body. Victim Mae Moon was transported to an area hospital where she is being treated for her injuries. Detectives are actively looking for a known suspect.
