On February 4, 2017, suspect Rosalind Jones walked into the Dallas Police Headquarters building and turned herself in regarding her murder warrant. Jones was read her Miranda warning and invoked her right to remain silent. She was placed in jail for murder with a $500,000.00 bond.

On February 2, 2017, at approximately 8:06 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call at 1809 E. 11th Street. The victim, Devotric Johnson, a 29-year-old Black male, and the suspect, Rosalind Jones, a 46-year-old Black female, became involved in a verbal dispute over money. The suspect shot the victim in the back and fled the scene. The victim was transported to Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Homicide and Crime Scene responded to the scene. Witnesses were interviewed by homicide detectives. The suspect was positively identified from a six photo lineup by a witness. Next of kin was made and a murder offense was made on case number 026187-2017. A murder warrant was obtained for the suspect.
