On February 26, 2017, at approximately 5:19 a.m., The Dallas Police South Central Patrol Division, located at 1999 E. Camp Wisdom Road., was targeted in a drive-by shooting. It appears that the shooter initially directed gunfire at a marked squad car in front of the station that was occupied by an officer assigned to station security.
According to shell casings recovered at the scene, at least 9 shots were fired, with 3 striking the substation. Thankfully, the 3 ½ year veteran officer was not injured in the shooting.
There are 2 suspects in this offense. At this time we do not know the race, gender or age of these suspects. The officer reported seeing a dark 2 door vehicle, possibly a late model sports car, fleeing eastbound on E. Camp Wisdom Road.
An Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant offense has been made and is currently being actively investigated by our Special Investigations Unit.
