Through the course of the investigation, the person of interest in this case has been identified as Ricardo Zamora Zapata, a Latin male 38-years-old. Detectives were able to develop enough information to secure a murder warrant. On August 12, 2017, he was arrested by the United States Marshal Service – Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team and taken to the Dallas Police Headquarters building to be interviewed by detectives. He was read his Miranda warning and voluntarily waived his rights by agreeing to speak with detectives. During the course of the interview, he admitted his role in the death of Victim Isreal Tovar. Zamora Zapata has been placed in jail for murder with a $250,000.00 bond. Please see the arrest affidavit below.

On May 28, 2017, the victim, Israel Tovar, was shot and killed while at the Whip In Gas Station located at 2910 Ruder Street. The offense is documented on Dallas police case #: 119725-2017. The person of interest may be driving the pictured vehicle which is described as a 2002 Honda Accord 2 door black in color with a silver hood and trunk and also has a moon roof, bearing TX license plate HCC-2341.

On May 28, 2017, at approximately 1:03 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a call for service in the 2900 block of Ruder Street where the victim, Isreal Tovar a 31-year-old Latin male, was shot at a gas station. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.
