On June 19, 2017 at about 4:57 p.m., officers responded to an Active Shooter call in the 10700 block of Eastham Drive. The caller told responding officers that a known suspect fired multiple shots into their residence. Officers went to a nearby home believed to that of the suspect. They could hear a disturbance through the open front door involving the suspect, a female, and a crying infant. One of the officers gave the suspect directions to come to the door. When the suspect appeared, he was armed with a handgun forcing the officer at the door to fire his weapon. The suspect, a 28-year-old White male, was struck by the gunfire and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The female in the residence with the suspect was also transported to the hospital with multiple injuries. Preliminary information suggests that the suspect assaulted the female victim and threatened to kill her and the infant. No officers were injured during this incident. This offense will be documented on case number 139039-2017.
