Dallas PAL Midnight Basketball Comes to An End for 2017

The Dallas PAL Midnight Basketball program had it’s final night of fun before school starts on August 4, 2017. Midnight Basketball has been held at Sam Tasby Middle School on Thursday and Friday for the past eight weeks. Participants of the program are coached by Coach Prentice who is with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Coach Prentice himself was a PAL member when he was growing up. Also helping with Midnight Basketball was Shaundra Jones who works with the Dallas Independent School District.

The program was from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm on both nights with dinner provided to the kids. This year the Midnight Basketball program had up to 8o kids come out. They ranged from ages 8 up until 18.

Coach Prentice along with Dallas Police officers coached the kids on the fundamentals of basketball. On the final night, the Mavs Man from the Dallas Mavericks came out to shoots some hoops with the kids. The kids were also awarded trophies for their participation in the program.

The department would like to thank the Vickery Meadow Improvement District for their continued support of the Midnight Basketball program. We would also like to thank all the kids who came out this year and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
