Recently, the Central Patrol Division had been experiencing individual robberies, mostly in the East Dallas area. The offenses had been occurring between 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. and the suspects are described as 3 to 4 young males with a revolver. This past Monday, September 4, 2017, there were several robbery offenses committed on the East Dallas streets of Collett, Bennett, Reiger, Gaston, and Washington Avenue. The Central Division’s Crime Response Team (CRT) collaborated on a plan for apprehension with reliable information to lead officers to a general area in East Dallas for canvassing.
On Wednesday, September 6, 2017, undercover officers spotted two robbery suspects in a stolen vehicle, both of whom had active Aggravated Robbery warrants. The suspects fled trying to elude the officers; however, with the assistance of Air 1 and K-9, the officers were able to apprehend both suspects and take them into custody. A third suspect was subsequently located and taken into custody for an Aggravated Robbery warrant.
These three arrests are highly significant because the suspects were getting more aggressive each time with citizens they were encountering.
The following individuals were arrested:
- Joel Mendoza Latin/male 17 years old – Arrested for UUMV, Evading in a Vehicle, Evading on Foot, and Aggravated Robbery Warrant
- Teobaldo Arroyo Latin/male 18 years old – Arrested for Evading on Foot and an active Aggravated Robbery Warrant
- Alejandro Rios Latin/Male 17 years old – Arrested for an Aggravated Robbery Warrant
