Despite the rainy weather this year, Dallas Chief of Police U. Reneé Hall attended National Night Out Crime Prevention events throughout the City of Dallas. Chief Hall discussed several important matters on how to improve community relations between civilians and police officers, and stressed the importance of a good working relationship. The Dallas Police Department continues to work hard to maintain the trust and support of the community by stressing community policing efforts, hosting events throughout the year such as Chief on the Beat, Coffee with Cops, Let’s Talk, and many others.
National Night Out was established in 1984 and is a yearly event designed to build and strengthen the relationships between police officers and the communities they serve. It’s held on the first Tuesday in October in neighborhoods and communities across Texas. National Night Out encourages neighbors and community members to come together with police officers through block parties, cookouts, and safety demonstrations. In addition, there are more than 100 locations throughout the City of Dallas hosting National Night Out activities.
