Through the course of the investigation, and with the help of the United States Marshal Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team, Jimmy Hightower was taken into custody. He was transported to Dallas Police Headquarters where he was read his Miranda warning and requested an attorney. Hightower was placed in jail for murder with a bond of $550,000.00.

On October 21, 2017, at approximately 4:05 p.m., the victim, Jaytoyah Davis, a black female 31-years-old, was discovered shot inside her vehicle parked in her driveway at 2228 Vine Lane. Witnesses observed the victim’s husband, Jimmy Hightower, a black male 30-years-old exiting the victim’s vehicle after hearing a gunshot. Suspect Hightower was observed leaving the location in a blue 1987 Chevrolet Caprice 4-door with blue spinning wheels and a paper dealer tag.
