On January 12, 2018 at about 6:00 p.m., a female victim reported she was sexually assaulted in her residence located at the 6200 block of Melody Lane in Northeast Dallas. At around 5:00 a.m., the suspect entered her home through unknown means and sexually assaulted her while threatening her with a knife for an extended period of time.  The suspect remained in the victim’s residence and held her there.

Immediately after the offense, patrol officers were provided with a detailed description of the suspect, to include reddish-orange hair color, tattoos and the type of weapon used.

On Saturday, January 13, 2018, officers canvased local businesses for video evidence. Less than a mile from the offense location, patrol officers found video of a person fitting the suspect description who was previously involved in a disturbance at that business. The person involved in the disturbance was identified as Dewayne Turner B/M/32.

On January 15, 2018, patrol officers found Turner walking in the 6100 block of Ridgecrest and detained him.  During a pat down search of Turner, officers located a pocket knife in his pants pocket which matched the description of the weapon used in this offense. The tattoos and other marks on the suspect matched the complainant’s description.  Detective Haecker obtained an arrest warrant for Turner and he has been charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault.

He is in jail with a $50,000 bond.  Turner has a prior arrest for Theft and Failure to Identify.  Turner’s full criminal history is not available at the time of this report, so it is not known whether he has other convictions in any other jurisdictions. The suspect’s DNA profile has been submitted for comparison to other sexual assault cases.

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of sexual assault by a suspect fitting Turner’s description is asked to come forward and contact Detective Haecker at 214-671-3584.
