ARREST MADE: Information Needed in Murder and Aggravated Assault Investigation

Homicide detectives have developed information regarding the murder of 14-year-old Natalie Hernandez shot in the 1800 block of Ormond Street, near Umphress Park. Arrest warrants were prepared yesterday. The Dallas Police Department Fugitive Unit located and arrested the two men wanted for the murder. The arrested persons are:

Ernest Salazar L/M/25

George Salazar L/M/22

This is the only information that will be released at this time as there are additional persons that need to be interviewed related to the offense. Additional information will be released pending the outcome of those interviews.

The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance regarding information needed in a murder and aggravated assault investigation.

On February 12, 2018, at about 9:43 p.m., officers responded to a call for police regarding a shooting at 1731 S. Buckner Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. During the investigation it was determined the shooting actually occurred in the 1800 block of Ormond Drive. The victims fled the shooting location and went to the dispatched call location of 1731 S. Buckner Boulevard where police responded.  The suspects are described as 4 Latin males in a dark-colored vehicle. The suspects fled the location and remain at large.  Both victims were transported to a local hospital. One victim, a 14-year-old Latin female, died as a result of the shooting.  The second victim, a 16-year-old Latin male, is currently in stable condition.  Two other individuals were present, but not harmed.  The victims’ information will not be released by the department because they are juveniles. The investigation is ongoing.
