On the March 2, 2018 at about 12:53 a.m., a homeowner was asleep in his residence in the 2900 block of Seevers. The homeowner was awakened by the sound of a person attempting to kick open the door of the residence next to his. The homeowner owns both residences and a relative lives alone at the address where the burglary in progress was occurring. During the burglary, the homeowner retrieved a weapon and confronted the burglary suspect as the suspect was trying to now burglarize the homeowner’s vehicle located in his side fenced in driveway. As the homeowner confronted the suspect, the suspect approached the homeowner at which time the homeowner fired a weapon at the suspect striking him. The suspect fled the location, but was discovered deceased a short distance from the scene. The homeowner was taken to the Jack Evans Headquarters to be interviewed and was released. A Grand Jury referral will be submitted. This incident is reported on case number 044210-2018.
