Officer Of the Month of March Joe King

Every month, the Dallas Community Police Awards Committee recognizes and honors a Dallas Police officer for their exemplary performance and civic involvement. Officer Joe King from the Legal Unit was recognized as the Officer of the Month for March 2018. Officer King has been on the department for 21 years and has received several commendations and awards for his outstanding work.

Prior to transferring to the Legal Unit, Officer King worked in the Southeast Division for over 18 years. While in the Legal Unit, Officer King has mastered the Dallas County District Attorney’s mandated case filing system and has become the trainer for the Dallas Police Department. He has trained various units throughout the department such as the Crimes Against Persons Division, Narcotics Division, and the Family Violence Unit to name a few. Officer King has received several letters of high praise from various Assistant District Attorneys regarding his dedication to his work, commitment to service, and his attention to detail.

In his nomination letter for Officer King, Sergeant Reginald Luster wrote, “Officer King is every sergeant’s dream employee. He is knowledgeable, competent, passionate, dependable and has a funny sense of humor to lighten even the most stressful moments. He strives each day to deliver excellent customer service and a complete serviceable product.”
